That Mossberg looks nice! The fiber optics on it make it look cheap though. The first thing to go for me, would be that front sight!

I'd remove both the front and rear sights altogether for a cleaner look, slap an XS rail on there, and mount a nice low powered scout scope!

Good call setup just like your 45/70! I'd be hard pressed to just go with the ghost ring.

Actually, being a short barreled scout rifle, ghost rings would be magnificent!

I have a whole thread in the other subforum about my thoughts on training. I probably will keep putting stuff in there. Even some of the stuff from the book Im putting together.

I should have checked there first. I'll take a look. Glad to know you're doing something like that.

In preparation for bear season, I needed to confirm zero om my Scout (aka Lorraine). 3 shot group at 100 yds. 180 Winchester, 16" barrel, off the back of a Honda Rancher. Elbows and ching sling for a rest, Leupold FX2.5 for optics. Without the ching sling, I doubt I would have even hit the target.

Am I in the right place?

Here's what I want for a scout rifle.

Will catch up on reading asap.

    Until then, ISOBAR's @ 300 mb>

    Ooh, o0h, just one more.

    Flying scout rifle.

But if you want to fly it,
you need to understand weather forecasts,
including those that include predictions about 300 mb, where you'll be flying. :)

I got a GSR about a month ago. Got a vortex scout for it in QRW rings. Got a chance to hit the range last weekend. I love it. I can't wait to shoot again. I haven't been this excited to shoot in a while. Going out this weekend again to see if it like federal fusion 165 or 150. IMG_2252.JPG IMG_2253.JPG IMG_2201.JPG

I need the quick detach mounts so that I can switch to irons if need be. That's a nice set up. I'm glad Vortex has come out with a scout scope.

It's really a surprise hit for the price. I was skeptical but so far it's good to go
