……. there comes a point where the cost vs function of a product “jumps the shark” I would be the first to argue they were running the boat up to speed at $50 but are full airborne at the new price.

yea that's absolute insanity pricing at $128 USD for a single canteen pouch.....

that's literally $220 CAD after exchange rate / duties.

I did email VELSYS and inquired what happened ...... waiting for response

I was going to order a couple of days ago, but dragged my feet, SUPER BUMMER! There is NO way I'm going to cough up that much for a couple of pouches. That said I did order 2 GP pouches before they jack up the price on them too. I sent them an email about the RECCE Radio like you have. Multicam is out of stock and I asked if they will make it again. I kind of dismissed your write up on it till I was looking over the other pouches and trying to decide what else. We don't have Grizz in Michigan, but we do get some big black bears in some areas. I never really considered bear spray and how to carry it before now. While most of the time I wouldn't be concerned about bears, an open pocket & closed pouch would be very handy to just drop gloves, face mask, skull cap, etc. while on the move. I think that's the big advantage of pouches, having the stuff you need accessible instead of buried in a pack. Been hot in MI for the past couple of days, so I'm waterproofing gear tomorrow before the temps drop like a rock next week.

That's a good idea. I already have a holder similar to that for water bottles.

I intent to replace this with a canteen and pouch, so this will be free to repurpose.

I had looked at this belt also and wondered if it would be good.
I finally had the Light Bulb Turn ON o_O, I only plan on carrying the OSNI & Poncho in the rear buttpack. I've been having a hard time finding Any buttpack big enough to work, but WHY do I even NEED a buttpack? I thought I would stuff the buttpack with the Osni and lash the poncho on top if needed, but if I just use a compression bag for the Osni and strap both on directly to the belt, I don't Need a buttpack, I can then use Any belt because the slots don't need to line up with pack webbing. Sooo, is there a disadvantage to just strapping them directly to the belt?

Ordered a Field Pack Training Woodland, on the theory of stuffing the pack.
    IIFS Field Pack
    NSN : 8465-00-935-6825
    Made of Cordura.
    9.5”H x 10.25”W x 6.25”D = 608 CI. 9.5x10x6=570 CI.
    10 W, 10 H, 6 D
    >>Dimensions & volume vary depending on vendor sites.

Another idea that may have a benefit is a US Army Vietnam M1967 sleeping bag carrier. Could wrap at least part way around the Osni to secure it.
One of the things I have overlooked is the weight of the buttpacks compared to just strapping it on. Don't know if I can justify the larger pack (Fire Force) with all that MOLLE webbing that probably won't be utilized.

Going to try the Field Training Pack first. If it's not big enough, I'll order this one.

……I have that carrier in the back of my truck. Keep the “Military Sleep System” it was designed for in it. As it’s shoved under the back deck it protects the bags well.

your stuff doesn't get stolen every night?

(I'm used to East Van - leave nothing in the trucks, leave the doors unlocked, bolt / chain the hood so the battery doesn't get nicked)

Nope. It’s garaged but my other one was in a carport out front for a decade. Had one instance of a vehicle being broken into in 22yrs. That was a work car they syphoned fuel from.

Spent this week fixing up a cargo trailer and securatizing it so my son has a chance to keep his stuff when he goes tent camping. He tells me stories all the time about how bad it's getting out there. Hope he's wrong! Used to go camping on state ground and nobody messed with your stuff, but that was in the past.
