His actual advice was take it to a gunshow and sell it for $100. And walk away. May just do that this weekend along with the 10/22 and shotgun.

Unless you were really attached to it I would not put the $s into it for a re-barrel.

In the interest of keeping this thread going I'm tossing these pics into the mix . We reload handgun , rifle and shotgun (a lot of 12 gauge for sporting clays). From front to back - Dillon 550 setup for .45 acp , older Mec 600 for low volume 12 gauge , a Ponsness Warren 800 plus for practice rounds and an RCBS Rock chucker that's not pictured for other rifle calibers .

This bench will soon be extended and have more shelves added . Reloading is my therapy for stress but dang if therapy isn't getting expensive !

Bump... it's almost that time of year again for me. I only reload in Jan through early March, when there ain't much else to do. And I'm not a bulk reloader, only specialty stuff.

Definitely loading more of the .308 Trail Boss plinking loads, some heavy hard cast bullets in 45 colt, and new to me... some Nosler 260gr Accubonds for the 375 H&H.

That's probably enough, although my boy mentioned he wants to learn so possibly adding some.270 loads, for which I have lots of brass.

What are you guys working on...???

I will do a batch of .308 for both my Sako and Steyr over the holidays. I also have about 1K of .38Spec that need stuffing.

I really like that round. Easy to reload and very easy to shoot.

..... 165gn Nosler Ballistic Tips. Damn things shoot one hole groups out of both rifles with the same load.....and it helps that I found about 700 of them in the back of the cupboard from when I managed a gunshop in the 80s... ;)

I'm picking up a Lee Loadmaster progressive press with .223 dies tomorrow. My first time ever being exposed to reloading, what are the main dos and don'ts?

    Read a lot before starting.
There's lots of good YouTube videos out there now too.
Busch Lt and reloading don't mix.;)
Buy a Case Length/Headspace Gauge and check every round until you build up some confidence.

Do take your time.....don't blow yourself up !!

Not everyone will agree with me but progressive presses are probably not where you should start. You need to find the load you are going to use in the first instance and doing small batches with little tweaks are a PITA on a progressive.

Go and read all you can before you start, any of the better manuals (Speer, RCBS, Sierra, Hornady etc) will have valuable data for both starting loads and the reloading process. It is important you understand what each step is accomplishing and what is involved.

Best option is to load with someone that has a face and all their fingers first. Learn some stuff in person. And as above. Read. Read. Read.

Im finally getting into reloading season.

Triple check your powder charges to help avoid a squib load. I always do a final check... with the cases still in the loading block, look inside each one with a flashlight to make sure there's powder in there. Also need to raise your level of awareness especially when shooting out of a semi auto... if something doesn't sound or feel right, you need to stop a investigate.
