My first ever fatwood find The Opinel 12 saw helped me harvest it. Oh that delicious smell Then split it into smaller pieces with the Esee 5 Tested it out, some tiny curls caught the sparks like no other Yay! fatwood is such awesome stuff!
Some couch craft as well I brought the bush inside to try the new 5 I got sunday. I did a quicker convex sharpening the same day I got it. Beast of a knife.
Brought the Kelly Kettle and the Esee 5 while walking the dog. Time for a coffee break. The Esee split some sticks and made some fine curls and feathersticks to get the fire going. Roughed up a piece of birch bark to ignite with my ferrorod. Lit up nicely Couple of minutes before things boil, enjoy the flames shooting out the chimney of the Kelly Kettle. Oh yeah, we have a boil And coffee is ready Cheers
You guys are such enablers. Thanks. The 5 has been on my list since the CV19 shut-down. I am getting one now.
Esee 5 and the Kelly Kettle out with me today Opinel #12 saw helped out too Split it And a little smaller Scraped some bark to get the fire going Fire it up Tea time
#0126 in its natural environment. Free range and cage free fire starter. A new personal best on the longest baton I've done so far, I went all the way to the ground. Some mountain ditch water in the arctic canteen cup. I was stress testing a lid I made out of a aluminum/foil baking pan, it's in the center of the fire. It was a fail. More proof. It was a great day to be out.
Out in the woods today with time for tea. Brought the Esee 5 and the Firebox Nano, Trangia kettle and a Swedish Fold-a-cup for a nice hot cup of fresh gingerroot tea. I find a couple of this slice give more taste than one thick chunck. The filled the stove with small stick and curls of firewood. Made a featherstick to light with my ferrorod and the transfer the flame to the stove. Then wait for my water to boil And tea is ready
