I’m in Hawaii. Those are Spanish goats. The place we are hunting has smaller goats when looking at the body and curlier horns. Other places have bigger bodies. Like way bigger. From a few years ago: Both were mature Billy’s. Just from very different areas
Had a fantastic spring turkey season, it went way too fast! Two nice toms from the mountains. Still a bit of snow had to cut downed trees and get out the traction boards a few times to get into camp.
Haven’t been around much as life’s been pretty busy. Finally got out last week to do some hunting saw a bunch of small stuff but nothing I’d feel good about taking home. Finally found a group that I would take from and got this once the group was in a good place About 150 yards away across a gulch is about 20 goats. Then the rain started and since we were up around 7000’ it got a little cold. So no meat taken home but still a great day out in the field.
The best kind of fun. Doing nothing. Well I’m productively feeding mosquitoes anyway...wouldn’t want the little vampires to starve. This boy was looking for a date for the evening. He came in from my right at about 65 yards but he proceeded to walk straight at me until he was under 50. When he turned 1/4 to I sent a 556 soft point. He bounced left, about 3 good jumps/15 yards into a little spot completely surrounded by barb wire size briars of course. Jeez. The little rascal is heavy to drag as dead weight! I gotta go get my Jeep..it’s got 4wd, it’ll make down the wet hill and back up right? ( we’re gonna find out!)
Hi everyone! It’s been a long time since I posted. Life’s just been busy. Back in August my son and I had a hunt on Hawaii island we both got mouflon. This was at Parker Ranch. It was a pay hunt, we went to celebrate my sons first year of college. My sons Mine Last week I went out and got a nice sized goat at my favorite hunting spot. I’ll try to post more often here and elsewhere on the forum. Things are slowing down a bit now.
