Interesting patina result on pure copper (round storage container and a flashlight, both pure copper). I used pure acetone to strip/clean the copper of all traces of oil, finger oils , dirt etc. Left both pieces on the shelf for a week (forgot about them) and they developed a very cool patina just sitting there in the air . Purples reds and blues. You can really see the difference in the third pic , I left the lid on . looks way better in person, hard to capture it on camera without proper diffused camera light systems. My theory is that the acetone stripped the copper surface of all oils etc, and the copper reacted with the oxygen in the air. I'm tempted to repeat this in a sealed chamber (wipe the copper with acetone , then leave in vacuum chamber and fill with pure oxygen )
First attempt at a mustard patina I was a bit impatient, after 1,5hour this is the result. Still pleased with it though.
