L Looks good! It might be cool to stick them back in the grapefruits for a few hours. With the dark solid patina on them, that pattern might look sweet.
Thanks. I was surprised it took so long to sell. I had some nibbles, but no bites. I agree with six three's work. It's excellent. I normall would not pay that much for a scale, but I thought it was a beauty. Fit and finish were flawless. I love the 0562. I have an OR model I bought from Whitty and I carry it and my 0456 almost every day, alternating them. Now, back to the subject at hand. You Patinas look great. I think the grapefruit patterns are beautiful. Nice job on yours!
Got this stripped 4 from @Dagwood. Gonna see what a day or so in apple cider vinegar does. Cleaned her up with some tick juice... little dip...
Wow... 2.5hrs and look at this!!! Must have been some oil down in the etched areas. This is like 10x nicer than I expected. Maybe another hour or two and I'll take it out.
I'm starting to worry about you...sheep, talking to yourself and Busch light you're about one post away from becoming a serial killer
It's got a cool-looking, sort of distressed look to it. I like it a lot. My grandfather was fond of saying that people who talk to themselves usually keep bad company. At least he's got us.
I have done them. They look good in pictures. I just like to oil the knife and knock back the patina that occurs naturally off the top. I use a padded sanding pad with handle and some worn out fine grit sandpaper. Leaving the deep stains and knocking back the top layer.
Im trying a vinigar bath on me JG3... then im gonna t9 under the scales and try a mustard patina after it sets up On a side note can you grapefruit a stainless SV35 blade?
I did a patina last week on my BK1 Brute. Mustard, with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. I like the way it turned out:
