So I wanted to write my follow-up thoughts once I actually had a chance to get a little dirt time with it. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, so getting out has been difficult, but I did get an odd two hours today to play around with it. After getting the edge to wicked sharp (strait forward as it’s 440C), I went out and worked a piece of dead/dry mesquite branch into an Egyptian Style Bow for a bow drill set. This gave me some good working time with the blade as the piece I’d chosen required a bit of everything. The sawback works decently well for notching (not thru sawing), light chopping is actually pretty simple due to the finger ridges (back up to the last two plus the cap and you can use it remarkably well). Tried a bit of light battoning but am still a bit trepidatious to go all out....my experience with hollow handles and battoning hasn’t been great (but then again I was using cheapo blades for the task). The handle being nice and round created NO hotspots and was actually really nice to use when busting out the bow. I’m still not used to the grind angle (scandi and full flat are my go-to’s) but it did fine and my issue with that is probably more due to the user than its use. The sharpness stayed throughout the project, I’ll probably touch it up, but it would still be very good to go for many many more hours of work. All in all, I’m a fan! Definitely looking forward to the time I’ll have with it over the coming weeks.
man, I got an ender 3 pro a few years ago and haven't fired it up in about a year. lot of better options for the same cost these days. also I'm a luddite and technophobe so there's that. got friends heavily involved in the 3D 2A community, and loved seeing what they're doing. have fun with it!
liberator12K and the unknown cat on yt. they've both pulled a lot of content due to YT policies but there's good **** on both, and they're both cool guys.
i'll look them up, thanks! need to learn to use fusion 360 now too. already printed a few helpful things though, this printer will print 250mm/s (max 500mm/s), it's speedy!

Recently got some insulated tarps for making my own shelter while camping this winter/spring and the quality is pretty nice. I use them for making a simple a-frame or canopy
Well he is from Michigan…my SIL lived there and reported it’s colder than a well diggers #** in January up there!
Yeah, but what's the point of insulating the roof if you don't have walls? I could see it for an A frame with the ends closed or for a ground cover.... I'll just stay down here in the subtropics.
