I see that Yeti's buckets are "food grade". I'm not sure if the Lowe's/HD ones are food grade? I don't know what kind of food I'd be putting in 5 gallon buckets anyway, other than Nutella obviously.

But, if you guys want food grade buckets, each week, every Chick-fil-a throws away multiple food grade, 5 gallon buckets that their pickles come in. The buckets are green and are super sturdy. Probably more so than the Lowe's ones. Make friends with someone who works there and ask them if you can have the buckets. I have several.

They smell like pickles for awhile but I used them for work stuff so I didn't mind. If you want to get the smell out quickly, you could probably leave them in the sun or wash them with baking soda or something. The smell does eventually go away with time on its own though.

Your Expat tip of the day.

I've got an endless supply of 5 gallon pickle buckets with a sealing lid for $5. Makes everything you store in it smell like delicious dill pickles.

5$ so if you put some plain chips in there will they turn into dill pickle chips? if so I'm out as I just want to store mass quantities of original lays chips no bags But definetly not ok with dill pickle chips....they taste far worse then how they smell!!

I think that's probably how they make dill pickle chips.
