Coating was flaking on my Esee 6, this bothered me a bit, so time to remove it completely.

Covered the knife in paint stripper
    [IMG]

Wrapped it in plastic and waited 2 hours
    [IMG]

    Scraped it of
    [IMG]

    Good enough for now
    [IMG]

Some timy spots of coating remaining, so wil repeat it at a later time
    [IMG]

Maybe make the spine at a sharper 90 degree and apply a appelcider vinegar too while working on it :D

    Me neither.
Normal wear just ads character to a knife imho, but this just looked wrong... That's why I removed it.

It looks so much better now, I love uncoated blades.

Coffee this morning with the Kelly Kettle and the Esee 6 while walking the dog :D

Fill the base of the kettle with curls to get the fire going
    [IMG]

Then light a featherstick with the ferrorod to us as a 'match' to light it all up.

    Flame transferred
    [IMG]

Vulcano mode, alway love the look of the flames shooting up :p
    [IMG]

And coffee is ready after just a few minutes
    [IMG]

His snack wasn't even finished :D

Good times! I really dig those handle scales. Seriously considering a set for one of my 6es.

Thanks, these are TKC from back in the day when Esee only had the blocky handles. The make a world of difference for me on the 5 & 6

I was sharpening the 6 and was having a hard time getting the edge even. Looks like I got too gnarly with it at some point and put a wave in the blade a couple inches from the finger choil. 67B9682F-74E3-4523-8328-9022ACC153A3.jpeg C062B4D7-EA96-4EEE-92A7-B16BD99CE720.jpeg F7010D34-A5FC-41A1-8817-8A0B564E6159.jpeg

Yes. It takes more effort to sharpen the wave though.

What are you using to sharpen it?

Dmt bench stones usually. The blade isn’t flat anymore in that spot to use a bench stone. I use the spyderco sharpmaker triangle stones like a file on the bent part of the edge now
