Got some time in the Allegheny Forest and thensome time for honey harvest from our hives. I really like the fit and functionality of this design. Maybe a few personal tweaks possible but it has become a favorite. Extremely functional for daily use and abuse. Note I think the scales are perfect.

Coated the sheath in 2 parts linseed oil & 1 part beeswax by volume this weekend then darkened the edges.

Sheath retention is already fine so didn't wet-form. IMG_4563.JPG

Ordered one! I've read mixed thoughts/reviews on the handles. They look kinda slick, but looks can be deceiving. I have large hands as well. Has anyone felt the need to rough them up at all? Its different than the micarta that comes on the other Esee knives correct?
Thanks for any feedback. Looking forward to backyard surviving with this one.

I do not have large hands but I think they are fine. Actually very workable.

Terrible design. Probably worth about $25. Send PP info and I will buy yours when you get it.:D

This blade is about my favorite of the ESEE line. It definitely fits my aesthetic picture. I like the Laserstrike though, so YMMV.

Positives: proven, no frills, basic design; excellent slicer, strong tip, good skinner for small game (haven't tried on deer yet), finish is outstanding so far, good scale texture. Seems to hold an edge longer than prior ESEEs. Sheath is major improvement over other CLs. Designed for ease of carry and easy to conceal. Spine eats a ferro rod.

Negatives: Can disappear in the hand because of thin profile of scales (think Brakimo) but still gets traction wet or dry. Beefing up the thickness with liners may enhance the ergos for you but sort of defeat the purpose of fast handling design. Campcraft is a breeze but if you are a wood artisan and spend 10 hours per day carving, personalization would be beneficial. I wear 2XL gloves and does well for me in the woods. James Gibson's scallops are different than typical tread. One thing that I did do is throw some @5col bank line on the hypothenar eminance contact area.

I modify everything that I own.

Post some feedback when you get yours.

I’m thinking of rounding the spine about an inch from the scale for extra leverage. Still plenty of room for ferro striking. The back edge made a good scraper for honey bee frames.

Cool. I don’t use that area much but a small strip of skate tape works well for traction.

I like the scales I find them to work very well and very comfortable . I dressed my deer this year with it and had no problems with slippage . Hope this helps. All the best

It’s is now my go to knife, after a week of constant use I couldn’t be more pleased. I used it to spatchcock a chicken and it sailed through the bones.

That was a good chicken, while I agree the REH made it taste good, It had to do with how the chicken was raised.

I got mine today! Handles feel good. Sheath is nice. Doesn't slice paper like my other Esee knives did new. But it is sharp indeed. I like the finish/coating. I spent about 5 minutes with it and had to run. Tomorrow I'll do some work with it in the yard and on a hike. I'm glad I picked this up! #0339

Still doing final fitting and shaping but I really like how these turned out. Just need to order black hardware.

Final fitting done and lanyard hole drilled. I also found some black hardware. OD burlap micarta. Fits factory sheath as well

I agree. Very addicting knife. Just has some kind of appeal that keeps wanting to play with it. I did find a snake knot lanyard to be very useful addition.

Looks like a beautiful location in your picture.
