Got interested in tracker style knives a while back. Picked up a 5" bladed model but felt it too heavy/unwieldy. Picked up a 3' bladed model and handle to short to allow good control/manipulation. Now I got this 4.25" bladed model and I really like it - not heavy, small enough to manipulate, large enough to get work done. Just a cheapy, but great fun to play with. Carved a spoon out of Acacia wood with it.
I "might" be able to carve a bowl with my little 3" bladed tracker, but not the larger ones, lol! Video I shot showing comparative sizes and a spoon rough out:
A TOPS TBT would be really nice. I think the T1 might be too big for my purposes. Currently thinking on that desert sand coloured T2 which is a 5". I'd prefer a 4" blade, but the next smallest is a 3" and that is too small.
I was at SMKW a few weeks ago and i should have spent time looking at the tracker style knifes..(Spent to much time handling every type of ESEE knife they had in stock and looking for a decent price folder) If i could find one that is about the same length and weight of a ESEE 5, i would def try out some new skills
