Just thought I would add my two cents. I really liked the way the old forum was like 7 years ago. If we could get it back to the way it was somehow that would be great. I tend to lurk around on here daily and not post much since it hasn't really been the same place it used to be. In my opinion the group buy knives and patches made those who were members of the forum feel like a team and closer. The contests were always fun and got people outside practicing skills. If there was some way to bring those back that would be great (doesn't have to be the great contest prizes like it was back then with the Junglas, ESEE 5 etc). It would be fun to maybe do a ESEE patch run where the patches have to be won during online contests??? That could be fun and get people outside practicing actual skills.
You and I both. I am fortunate enough to live a few miles from a great state park that is along the shore of Lake Michigan . But extra incentive to get out and try a new skill would be a benefit to many. I hope no one took took my post the wrong way. I really enjoy this forum however there is always room for improvements .
Im a mouth breather...i had an op on my nose years ago and the day i came out of hospital i held my baby nephew, head flopped n shattered my fixed nose into a state worse than pre op. Sorry for the random story.
Ouch dude!!!!! I had surgery to fix a deviated septum from a couple fights in high school so I can sympathize with that pain.
Check out the march challenge in survival and wilderness skills. I give you 5000 points in march for giving me the idea.
It seems like any more it is "Do as I say, not as I do" when it comes to these rules. That is why I am not on hardly at all any more. Use to love this forum but that's long over. The ones "incharge" might have started the forum but it has been the members who have made it what it is (or use to be). We are told over and over they do not want to baby sit, they seem to look for every reason to flex what ever muscles they think they have to jump in and toss out insults and personal attacks on members, that they state will not be tolerated ( except from them apparently). Egos are a very fragile thing, it seems like this is where they come if and when they need to boost theirs. After all it is a safe place, because they know talking to some one in person they way they have here in the forum would result in a Emergance room visit. I know my words won't matter mostly because of the egos mentioned earlier, more then likely it will result in me getting band. If so so be it, my life won't end and there will be some that will be missed but not the egos that are larger then they should be. Just my opinion won't change the world or make any difference where it would matter, but there it is.
Keep up the good work guys. Forum seems to be getting more active lately, maybe it’s just me. Find myself logging on here more often than my usual online places.
Same for me! The discussions on gear and outdoor skills is on a level I can't remember it being in a very long time.
No doubt there has been a lot of work by a veteran staff of MODS....and also others inviting people in....I'm exited about the direction and the recent bump in activity....I come here to see and share cool experiences, trips, and pics....that is our intended purpose....connecting people on a deeper level and having people around the country to tap for info is an invaluable resource in my book...
It's always been a great resource of knowledgeable people since I originally joined the old forum in 2014. It just had some periods of "murkiness" from disagreements, misunderstandings and some outright trolling. I appreciate the work all of y'all staffers have done to bring it up to its current status. Glad to be a part of the mix here again.
