I hope he'll use it hard, told him I'll fix the edge whenever needed so don't cut it any slack!

Esee 4 (with a new bead tied on) had the tough task of opening the plastic packaging on the noodles and herbs :p

Looks good, but would look even better with some Vienna Sausages in there. ;)

My dad sent me some blue dyed stabilized walnut. Perfect size for the 4.

My dad also sent some stabilized cedar. My hacksaw and filed 5160 knife I made will get the cedar scales if I can get it heat treated right. I tested the edge after it had cooled down from the quench, a file didn’t skate on the edge so I have to anneal it and start over.

    Went outdoors for lunch today
Made a bunch of fatwood curls to get my stove going
    [IMG]

Thought all the rain had passed... NOT ... quick covering everything up :D
    [IMG]

Ok, time for a little fire :D
    [IMG]

Opinel 12 saw and Fiskars X5 hatchet helped out with firewood prep
    [IMG]

First... boiling water for some fresh gingerroot tea
    [IMG]

    Done!

    Next up: fry some Rösti
    [IMG]

Hmmm... forgot my wooden spatula... time to improvise
    Fiskars did the rough outline
    [IMG]

And after a bit of finetuning with the Esee 4 we have a spatula :p
    [IMG]

    Rösti done!

    Now for some sausages
    [IMG]
And last heating up my baked beans
    [IMG]

    Man I'm hungry now
    [IMG]

Had a great afternoon again :)

Had time for an outdoors lunch today. Brought the Esee 4, Opinel 12 saw and the Firebox Nano to prepare things.
Opinel provides some clean pieces of pine
    [IMG]

The Esee split it into thin pieces to feed the firebox
    [IMG]

birchbark from my firekit helped catching a spark from the ferro rod.

First some water on for coffee
    [IMG]

Splitting more wood waiting for the water to boil
    [IMG]

    Coffee ready
    [IMG]

    Then some eggs
    [IMG]

    And lunch is ready
    [IMG]

Great time out. Resetting my mind...

This knife has been sitting in the display case at the local butcher shop for a few years now. Every time I'm in there I threaten to buy it and I finally broke down and got it.

It'll be going up on the mountain with us tonight to look for the northern lights.

Got a new 4. Quite a bit of age gap between my first 4 and the new one comparing the serial numbers. Hopefully the wind settles down this weekend and I can break it in on a fire pit. I also picked up a couple of the esee strap kits. I didn’t even know these existed, I just happened to see them when I had the 4 in my shopping cart. Knifeworks isn’t good for the wallet.
