RB3-1707 by Kylemeister posted Sep 17, 2021 at 12:43 AM #1707 reporting for duty. I gotta say, the scales on this one are a home run. Better than my 3 with TKC scales.
Beautiful pictures! I read somewhere that Esee added a small secondary bevel to this blade later in production does anyone know if this is true? Just curious.
Thanks brother! Mine is definitely a true scandi grind, no secondary bevel. Dummy proof sharpening on a flat ceramic rod.
Well I’ve got one of these on the way! Out of curiosity since google seems to turn up NOTHING….. Has anyone here modified there RB3 scales (other then color) and why? I can seem to find pictures of modifications on I think every model of ESEE but the RB3…
I can only speak for myself, but it's the most comfortable ESEE to me, even above the HM handles (which I also love). The slight taper and broomstick profile are just plain awesome IMO. I could carve all day with it.
Trying not to over post the same pics. I just dumped a few others in the "cups and spoons" thread. I pruned a pear tree this morning and put the RB3 to work on some of the trimmings. These are a few close ups of the old scandi in action.
I love this knife. Kinda never wanted it but so glad I bought it in the end. It’s one of the best for sure
Finally found some Orange Scales for the RB3. Not as comfortable as the stock scales but much harder to loose now !
Ebay- Carrolls Custom Knife Scales. I actually asked him if he could make me a orange set and he decided to make multiple which he has for sale. Link below to his store front. He has 2-3 different colors if you search through. 1 similar type in orange (slightly different pattern). They use the stock hardware and i would say they are a 95% or better match to the knife ( i know each knife is just slightly different.) They also work in my aftermarket sheath meant for the stock scales perfectly. Im really happy with them. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ss...name=carrollscustomknifescales&_oac=1&_sop=10
I gotta say, I think the RB3 has the most comfortable scales from the factory of any in my collection. But, I'll also say, I like the orange and understand why.
I have had a hand line pattern for 2-3 years from a ESEE Advanced Bushcraft class. Finally got around to carving this week
