I've always been a bit confused by the Izula sheath design when it comes to the holes and slots. I've tried various sheath attachment stuff -- maybe two or three -- and didn't quite get it right. Not a deal for me because it rides in my side tool pocket on my Carhartts now; better than a belt or molle mount. But I'd be interested in reading/seeing more about how people make use of that design. I'm sure a lot of thought went into it, but I just didn't get the user manual memo.

I think the slot helps with mounting onto a larger knife sheath. I used mine that way on my Junglas until I tried @Benson X 's mod idea.

Well the Esee website and catalog show all 4 holes lining up and I have a Coyote sheath I just got a month or two back also with slot and that does not line up either.

The Izula sheath with the slot is the older version. The newer version of the sheath has 4 holes, which the MOLLE back is designed to fit. Although mine does just fine with 3 screws holding it on.

Can those of us with the older sheath get a new one somewhere?

    Knifeworks has plenty of sheaths.

But on the MOLLE back page it states:
The molle back does not work with the Izula Clip Plate [Version 1- (3) Hole] The hardware that was made to fit the Clip Plate Version 1, has shorter screws than the Version 2.

You may need longer screws that come with the new style Clip Plate

So how the heck do you know which clip plate is which?
I have two one older about a year old that came with that Izula and one I got today and look the same to me. No V1 or V2 anywhere on them.

Ok, so ^ that ^ page is part of what I need/want -- the molle back.

But this page is the one I needed for the upgraded sheet; scroll down. Bingo. Gracias.

The old sheath style has the slot on one side and two holes on the other. The new style has holes on both sides.
