Officially announcing this as we have prototypes in that will be at SHOT. And someone already sleuthed this out last month anyway. Shipping in January, or Enero as they say in Medellín.

If you want the specs, here's the important ones: it's got a metal part that is sharp on one side and dull on the other. That part folds into a plastic and metal housing that also serves as a handle so you have something to grab and you don't cut yourself. It has a clip that you can clip onto your pocket, or you can remove it and carry it inside your pocket if you are old school like me. It has a lock that is built into the frame. The lock doesn't require a key, so it's more like a lever, but all of you knife nerds continue to refer to it as a lock, so I do as well.

The blade length and overall length would both be medium. Maybe extra-medium, but I wouldn't call it large.

If you want more specific specs, you'll have to ask someone that knows something about knives--try Mike Perrin, Customer Service Representative Extraordinaire.

It is made in Taiwan-boo. I know. That will piss off some of you. (Ironically, it often pisses off the same people that refuse to buy products because they are too expensive.) Here's the deal: this is no collectible knife. It's a user, plain and simple. There is ZERO reason this knife should be put in the safe (actually, I hope you never put ANY of our knives in the safe--we make them for you to use them to make memories. And wear them out).

If you're an expat, you don't carry around a $400 folder while crossing borders, being stopped by sticky finger 3rd world police, or getting in and out of boats, taxis, and sketchy airplanes. You carry something that works, but if you lose it, you simply get another one and go on with your life--it's not an emotional event. Or you carry something that has enough value to it you can trade it for 3rd world favors, or impromptu customs "duties" the policia decides you need to pay, while not being TOO valuable and being unwilling to part with it. Or you buy 4 or 5 of them to take with you, knowing you'll gain access to places no one else will, or you'll zoom through checkpoints that others will spend an hour at.

(Side story: I once got a police escort around every checkpoint there was in a Colombian airport because I gave an overzealous police chief an old pair of handcuffs we found lying around. Anyone that's spent significant time in the third world has a story just like this.)

This is made to a high quality for the price. This is in no way junk. Overseas doesn't automatically mean crap. They will make anything you want to any specification you want. And we went for higher quality. Can you baton oak with it and build a two-story, log cabin in a survival situation? No. But, let's face it guys--be honest with yourself--do you NEED that? Sometimes you just need to cut a darn sandwich.

We aren't done with USA made. We've got some products in the pipeline that will be made by the greatest country the world has ever seen. We've even kicked the idea around of a USA-made Libertariat, if the market will bear the price. I wouldn't mind moving that production back inside the US. But, we're not limited to USA-only production. I know some of you buy only USA-made products, and I totally respect that. You don't have to buy this knife and we're not asking you to compromise your principles in any way. But, at least your money is going to an American company. And rest assured I'm blowing your money as fast as I can on USA guns, ammo, and frivolous hunting trips, so at least Merica is benefiting a little.

Why the name Medellín? I've spent some time all over the world, but I've spent some SIGNIFICANT time all over Colombia. This knife would be perfect for that environment. In places like Bogotá and Medellín, it is common to be wanded with a metal detector before being allowed entrance to even the nicest of restaurants. Guns are almost impossible to get in. I've had better luck with knives. (Here's a little 3rd world tip: they rarely search the TOP of your back--clip the knife to the tag under the your collar in the back, so that the knife hangs roughly around the top of your shoulder blades, and only the most dedicated security guard will find it. They focus on your waist, pockets, and ankles. Don't try it in the US--security is a different animal here!) Of course, I've also had to hide some knives outside for retrieval later. And some I've just plain lost to guards that demanded them. Hence, the aversion to carrying $400 folders. Especially when they discover one you've taken pains to hide--it's not like you can say, "Oh, I forgot I had that there, old chap."

Here are some shots. It comes in black or not-black.

As always, we are first and foremost a sticker company. Here's the sticker for the knife:

Estimated shipping is January. Of 2018. I think this deadline is probably one we actually have half a shot at making, so contact your favorite dealer and ask them to order a bunch in if you're interested.

I feel like this is more like a letter than a post, so I'll sign off appropriately.

    Love Always,

    Expat

    Transequatorial Solutions.

It's the CIA front company that we operate under in South America and the Far East. But don't tell anyone, it's a secret. I can tell you cause you're a Mod, but no one else can ever find out.

If you would ship stickers in zip top bags you wouldn’t have to send a knife to open the packaging.

    That's some great thinking.

Maybe we should just sharpen the stickers a little more and stick them to the outside of the box. That way, you just peel, and slice.

    Medellin,
I thought that was what happened when the neighbors peek through the fence.

This is obviously the predecessor to the Izula folder.

We're all out of the Izula folder. They just didn't sell well so we discontinued it.

That looks like a winner. I have no problem with knives made anywhere outside the U.S. Lots of high quality stuff from Europe, Taiwan, China, and Japan. Steel you're using?

It's definitely in the medium range. I will edit my specs paragraph to include that detail.
