I’ve never tried it (for an event), but several of the Cadre have said no cho HCL changes everything! I’ve also never had foot issues, but I did toward the end of HCL! I guess it has something to do with putting 50 miles on your feet a couple days. Plus sand bags. Plus coupons. Plus logs. Plus cast iron... things. Plus dressers... oh man. So much goodness!
Anyone signing up for the Ruck for the Green Beret Foundation? This guy put in for a 13.1 miles. Gonna set out with a buddy or two and get it done soon.
Traded into an unused GR1 for next to nothing. The only way I'll lose money on the pack is if I lose it before deciding to get rid of it. Signing up this week for one of the Dahlonega events. Just depends on whether the wife wants to try it or not which one I do.
Hell yes! Anyone have any events coming up? I'll be doing a T/L in August, and my first Heavy in September.
My first and last HTL on memorial day weekend. After that i hope to retire from this injury inducing madness.
Yeah, if I somehow manage to pull an HTL out of my ass, I'd probably retire too. Maybe stick to Constellations and FADs after that. lol
anti-chafing cream! Apply the morning of the race, then apply right before the race starts. Great stuff. https://www.amazon.ca/SPORTS-AKILEI...=UTF8&qid=1515091843&sr=8-3&keywords=akileine and skip the tight clothing.......loose and FAST drying clothing for adventure racing. Loose / fast dry clothing lets your sweat evaporate away quickly, and prevents that heat buildup.
Night Fire was intense. I wouldn't hesitate to say it was on par with training I received in the military. It was maybe even a little bit better. I really want to take a rifle course.
Nice to know that there are some GRTs on here. I have done several events. Jedburgh in Black Mountain, NC was my last. I had planned to do the Joe Warner Bragg Heavy for the third time this year(for cadre Dan patch) but the date conflicts with my fire department training. I am doing Constellation in April and a Tough/Light in August.
We were! It was the second day and we had to pick out our log for a very long log PT. They were green and very heavy!! At one point we were in a mud pit doing log PT and people were falling, logs falling, etc. It was rough for sure. I have done 6 of the Pathfinder classes and have been a class advisor for the last 3. They are great in getting you ready for events. My first Heavy I did the Military Athlete Heavy training program. It was tough but I showed up ready for the event. That Heavy lasted 28 1/2 hours and I was good to go. Last year's Bragg Heavy I just did the Pathfinder program and I was fine. I would do a weekly timed 12 miler and my PR from year to year was about minute difference. I was slightly slower under the Pathfinder program, but I was no where logging the same mileage. Military Athlete was no joke!! One week I rucked almost 70 miles before the two week taper.
