I got my first Esee knife. A v3 and Im blown away by the quality. For years Ive always spent $30 or less on a knife, so this was a huge jump in budget for me. I have no regrets and I see now you get top notch quality for the money. I was now thinking about picking up an Esee v4. My question or concern is that the v3 blade feels a little stubby and fat (width of blade vs length). The v4 is longer and with a width of 1.25" doesnt seem as short and fat looking. But it is hard to tell looking at a picture. What is the width of the v3 blade? If I knew that I could decide much easier.
The esee 3 is 1/8" thick, almost half the thickness of the 4. It doesn't feel stubby or fat and it actually feels great in hand, depending on hand size. I wear xl gloves. Edited
I think he's curious about the width, not thickness. Width will be about the same between the 3 and 4 if I remember correctly. Don't own either of them anymore.
Not my picture, but this should give you a good idea. The 3 almost looks wider in this pic, but that probably because of the angle.
Exactly! I went out and got a tape measure (Hard to believe I didnt have one) and I measured the width at its widest point and got 1 & 1/4 inches or 1.25. So its the same as the 4. Thanks for posting the picture. That helps to have a visual of a side by side.
