I'm surprised there is no liquids !

i tied a plastic bag to a shrub here , in 40 deg Celsius heat and got at least 2 tablespoons in an hour.

Does humidity play a role one way or another? It was cloudy with high humidity today, threatening to rain all day long.

I noticed I got better results in drier climates , but I think it really depends on the bush/ plant too

Well…I think I learned a little here and have a lot more to learn, though I now have more of a desire to learn it…
So first I’ll say thank you to @Bushman5 for providing the encouragement (incentive) to try something I’ve never tried (or even considered really) before.
    The final collections and thoughts

Bag 1….heavy condensation, no standing water even after shaking bag
    Bag 2….almost bone dry
    Bag 3….2-3 tablespoons
    Bag 4….half a teaspoon
    Bag 5….light condensation

Again I know this wasn’t very scientific as there were tons of variables and that’s why i said I only learned a little but have a “thirst” for more (see what I did there ;) ) I definitely feel confident in saying that the clearer and thicker the bag, the better the results. I was surprised that the big ziploc didn’t produce more but maybe that had to do with not being able to tie it as tight to the branch because of the thick zip closure…I was shocked the evergreen produced the most water and I’m also surprised that the rhododendron didn’t produce more because of its big leaves but i suspect the bags had a lot to do with it. At some point in the future I’d like to try this again on the same plants using 5 of the exact same bags.

Yea I wonder if it’s more about the thickness of the bag and less about the color/transparency

Because OFM really put in the effort and Bushie has tried hard to get knowledge passed around I want to say that I tried the technique some years ago down here. Perhaps as long ago as the first version of the Esee forum we were on. I don’t remember now how many bags I had going but I think it was 3 clear HD state highway department 55 gallon bags. The results were less than stellar. Producing less than 6 ounces over 2 days in what was a very dry year. Why the results were disappointing I don’t know.
I’ve also tried the fabled solar still technique that’s in every classic version of survival manual. I had 2 stills replacing the lining vegetation after dark for 5 days. These were slightly better producing about 1/3-1/2 cup (3-4 US ounces) between the 2 per day. I even tried peeled prickly pear cactus thinking the moist flesh would help but to no avail.
My conclusion was unless there was some knowledge I lacked then these were not good options for emergency water and the energy expended in making and maintaining them was not worth the effort in a survival situation.

I think we overestimated the field here.. next challange instead of getting the kids to draw Picassos let's just see who can stay in the lines. Not to deter from the awesome job @OutdoorsFamilyMan did !! At least the only one to do it gave it 100% well earned and deserved brother. Thanks bushy for the informative challange
