For those of you who don't haunt the BF Becker sub-forum, here's a shot from last week. The Keppoon (and I) got out to the Sawtooths for some backpacking. This was at Imogene Lake on day 2, 8400ft (which is high for a coast-dwelling sailor like me). Anyone from Idaho?? It's gorgeous out there!

i am and Idahoan, born and raised. Stop telling people about it. Nothing to see here but potatoes and blue turf. Did you make it to the toilet with the world’s best view on the peninsula/ island at Imogene?

Jacob Peterson got a seldom seen emotional purchase out of me with this knife, just a couple weeks before this paint job was offered I had been reminiscing with my oldest granddaughter about her earliest memories of grandpa babysitting her. She said she remembers I always had sprinkles for her, for whatever she wanted them on. As soon as I see the pictures of this knife I'm thinking I can leverage that memory into a young woman keeping a knife on her. Exodus Knife & Tool is bringing the color!

Hallo! I promise to stop selling Idaho. :)
Nope, only popped a squat at Hell Roaring Lake, and followed protocol. Now I'm feeling I missed out.

It was fine. I used pre-cut/slotted washers from a Kabar handle rebuild kit (which are shipped WAY oversize, of course). Sloppy having to goop both sides of each washer individually, but shaped easily with a sharp 36grit belt at medium speed.

The tang is threaded so the butt cap is screwed on for compression, then the brass peened to lock it in place (in addition to glue everywhere).

I'd consider doing it again, FWIW. I LOVE the feel in my hand.

Did you compress them too? Ive heard leather requires compression.

Yes, the butt-cap screws onto the end of the tang and compresses the leather. Then the hot-wax handle treatment swells up the leather and hardens, providing some compression from between the brass ends.

I spent a lot more time worrying about it than it actually took. Now that I've done it once... maybe again sometime. It's not strictly harder or easier than a set of glued/pinned scales - just a different set of manufacturing considerations to sort out the first time. It feels awesome. :)

Hey Marsh you just prompted me to bring back my Adamas into my EDC here in Newfoundland, I had just bought a mini bugout for Ontario city life and like it a lot but too small for here.
