Thought I'd paint my Soviet Union era "Mickey Mouse" oil tin today, in a classic Soviet era green paint colour.

time to degrease / hot soapy wash / hot rinse / and use acetone to dry and fully remove any oils on the exterior of the tin.

well, the first coat was a failure. It simply refused to adhere to the metal , despite having built in metal primer in the paint...

I may have to get the oil tin surfaces Soda blasted for better primer/paint adhesion

    more to come, stay tuned

The built in primers are a lie. find a self etching aluminum primer. sanding is good too. your paint will be fine for the second coat.

I think the best use of Mikhail Mysh is to store vodka, and anti freeze. leave it unlabeled of course.

Yea I'm going to strip it and use primer first.

never like the Krylon brand of paint either.... always had issues . Tremclad had always been No 1 in my books
