I’m not really happy with it to tell you the truth. The ejector design is crap, when you put a fresh shell in and close it, you have to push it in with your finger as you close it or the ejector will cause the shell to stick out too far and get jammed up. I might sell it and pick up a Savage 42 instead.

Got one of these 13 buck Chinese fire boxes for Christmas. Tested it out today and it worked good and was a lot of fun. Just used twigs off the ground to boil water for a coffee.

BACKWOODSMAN MAGAZINE did an excellent article on the Kelly Kettle several years ago. Had the history and showed how used. Worth a read if you can find it.

@KnOeFz pics inspired me to dig this out, had to fire it up!
Probably been 10 years or so since it has been used.

    Here's a MESA, burning pellets.
    I also have the Bonfire.
And a great bottle of Bourbon.
Buddy of mine bought 5 of these. The more you bought, the lower the price.
    He gifted me one!

A little backyard fire practice this afternoon with my Kelly kettle Trekker and matching hobo stove attachment.

ginger root for the win :D
    [IMG]

A little practice to keep the hobo stove going... it's not the easiest stove to keep going.
Putting the kettle on to gets it going again in seconds with its chimney effect, but that's annoying when trying to cook a meal on this little stove.

Been raining all day but sitting inside was boring me...

Time for an outdoors lunch :D

Used the Opinel12 saw to make logs to the exact height of my Core 4 stove
    [IMG]

BK-9 splitting them to expose the dry inside
    [IMG]

Stove packed... rain making it a bit more challenging...

First time I filled my stove in Swedish toch style, packed the center with some birch bark to get it going
    [IMG]

    And.... we have a flame :D :D
    [IMG]

Boiling water for coffee first, despite the rain I'm really enjoying the view on the river
    [IMG]

The wait makes me hungry :D
    [IMG]

Love the Trangia 0.9l kettle combined with the Core 4 stove, a great match
    [IMG]

Coffee is ready, now going for my egg, still enough fuel in there
    [IMG]

An egg fills up the kelly kettle small pan just perfectly :D
    [IMG]

Egg done, now toasting the sandwich and melting the cheese a bit
    [IMG]

    hmmm tasty lunch :)

I really like how there was no need to constantly refuel my fire, only tossed in an extra chunck of wood once during the whole cooking session.

Hope you enjoyed it a bit too

Took my BK-16 outside for a nice tasy outdoors lunch this afternoon.
Combined with the Opinel 12 saw the BK-16 helped preparing the firewood.
Filled my Core-4 stove 'Swedish toch style'... gives it a long easy burn
Lit it up with my firesteel and some birch bark in the center.
First I put the Trangia kettle on for some fresh gingerroot tea.
Then fried my egg and tomatoes to put on some thick cut slices of bread.
One tasty sandwich :D Super nice day to be outside.

Very cool pics Bushman5, beautiful background and great flame action :D

    What stove is that again?
Looks like serious heavy gauge titanium, I like it.
Also how it's lifted above the ground.
Is that enough to prevent the earth from scorching?

And a super nice looking striker you have with that Sam Wilson Ferrorod.

    Great weather this afternoon.
Went out to have a nice lunch outdoors on a new spot.
My usual spot was 'taken' by some fishermen ;)

I had prepared some bannock dough with yoghurt in the instead of water before I left the house.
Green beans, green Spanish pepper, some tomato paste, garlic, ginger, salt and a bit of soy-sauce to spice things up.

Instant coffee because coffee is always good :D
