It would be nice if they were making them more like the ones my grandpa carried, half of what they have now looks like it was designed by a fashion designer. One of my first real knives was a Schrade lock back with a nylon finger groove handle, it looked like a copy of something Buck made.

Speaking of brands that once were purely American, has anyone noticed that Buck has apparently entered the modern folder world with some new designs and locks. I saw them on some websites and then in person at the Knife Shop in Ooltewah, Tn recently. I didn't care for them much, although I really like their 110 and 112 lite models. I'm still holding a grudge from them moving production out of the USA on many classic models and not being transparent about it until they were forced to.

Another note of interest for long time forum members is that I'm 99% sure that Mistwalker (I think that was his screen name, Brian something) apparently works there.

Ribeye steaks cooked on a Weber kettle, lit by a Coleman lantern and prepped with a Xancudo in the Smokies. It doesn't get much better than that.

Awesome. I'm supposed to head up there for a "survival type" class with a friend next weekend but one of our engineers forgot to measure a very large, very expensive piece of equipment so now that is in flux.

Enjoy the area, it's pretty cool. And anything done by lantern is something to be remembered.

We love it in that area. We go a couple times a year.

What kind of classes are you taking?

My friend's husband signed up for an "urban survival then into the woods for a couple of days" type class with a coworker. She asked me to tag along to make sure that he doesn't die. He gets lost in the parking lot (he is a great husband and father though) and just started watching too much youtube survival content. I've never heard of the guy doing the class and there's a fifty percent chance we just walk away day one. I think that most of us who train with people who are known and are reputable don't realize how many people are still out there telling people that they were greenberetwearingsealswhoworkedforthecia and personally know Jeff Randall and text daily with Craig Douglas while eating breakfast with Ed Calderon. Maybe it'll be some guy who is trying to make some cash while teaching some basic level of survival. Otherwise we'll bounce and just have some fun. I have no issue with say **** no and walking away.

    Sounds interesting.

We were taking about how we'd be interested in booking a primitive cabin to spend some time in. Get to live that existence for a bit.

And I won't be going due to the fact that someone who makes at least twice what I make a year doesn't know how to read a tape measure. The difference between 3/8 and 5/8, in this case, is 1.2 million dollars. If we can figure out how to make it work. If we can't then the price will be so high that I'm not even sure how to figure it.

I did have a friend who is going in my place. God forbid the instructor tries to pull anything shady because my friend doesn't like fakes, swindler or such.

Picked some yard onions this evening. Pretty good snack with a little ranch.

I'm tired of working for a living. I don't believe that is what we are here for. I'm ready to just live.
