Nice! Any trail pics? Literally just got the notification as I'm typing this that my hefty fab engine/front diff skid and t case skid were delivered. Super excited to get those mounted and not worry as much about ripping something out on a rock.
Totally cool. Honestly I can respect that, go have fun and don't worry about taking a bunch of pics and posting them on the interwebs not to mention it keeps your spots from getting overrun by a bunch of people who might not respect them the same way yall do.
Just shy of 2,000 miles on this road trip. About 1,400 miles was driving to and from Utah and the rest was spent exploring the backroads and ATV trails of southern Utah. Yes ATV trails in my Subaru Outback. 196,000+++ miles on her and she still climbs like a mountain goat. The way this car tackled some steep ATV trails just made me love her even more. Such a great vehicle.
Nice! My next rig will be white. White and silver hide dust pretty well and when they are dirty they still look cool. Congrats on the Taco!
Thanks, I was actually at the dealership to pick up a quick sand colored one and the white one just came in. I liked it so much I went white.
Ah damn, hate seeing an X on blocks! Do you think lack of maintenance by the previous owner contributed to the failure? I really wish there was an easy manual locking hub option for these so the 4x4 system wasn't always spinning, I think that would help both fuel economy and longevity of the parts.
Hard to say. I got it with 144k on it and when I changed the fluid the first time it was obvious that it had never been done but there weren't signs of damage beyond average wear. I'm not easy on this thing but this doesn't seem to be a common issue. However, today I looked at another guy's X and his has the same issue but with 129k on a 2010. It's kinda odd. I'm curious about which bearing is bad. It seems like the front one but with a stationary front differential it strikes me as unusual. It wasn't very long ago I replaced the front u-joints. The one at the t-case had dried out and gone bad. I'm wondering now if that didn't have some affect on it.
My 2015 Chevy 1500 with a 6.5" super lift, 35s on 18" Vision Rockers, with a Flowmaster Super 10 single out and a resonator delete, Warn Trans4mer, TS9500 winch, (4) 7" HID trail lights. I load this thing down like the Clampetts moving to town and head out of the city a few weekends a month in order to stay sane!
Did some knocking around in the woods a few weeks ago with some friends. It was nice to be in 4lo again. Might do some camping in a few weeks with some of them at the Blue Ridge Overland Gear flea market. Gotta see if any offspring want to go and what the wife has planned.
