I really like that the handle is slightly more exposed than with the original sheath. Do you think he'd be willing to make another one and ship it?
Used my ferro rod with the RB3 to make fire! This is my first successful attempt at fire making with my ferro rod! I'm tickled... I really like the RB3 for this. The shorter blade makes it less likely to knock my tender around. I think this is my new favorite knife!
After three days of owning the RB3 I think it's probably my favorite knife. The sheath is great for everyday carry as it doesn't hang up on things getting in and out of a vehicle and isn't cumbersome in daily movement. I used it today cooking steaks and carried it most of the day. I'm really impressed with this knife!
The Kephart is a classic design and one of my faves. I've owned several incarnations of it, mainly LT Wright or Blind Horse models. After using the broomstick handles of those knives I didn't think I'd care for the textured PR4 handles. Boy was I wrong. I also prefer the thinner stock of the PR4. I find it easier to slice and make feather sticks with.
Dang, that's purty. It's on the short list for sure. Does the handle have hot spots with extended use. I've got xxl size mitts if that makes any difference.
Thanks man. To my surprise, no this is a very comfortable handle. I steered away from it for a while thinking it would be uncomfortable. But I have short hands. Sometimes I'm held up from getting on roller coasters so they can make sure I'm tall enough to ride.
Put Advanced Bushcraft on your short list. I don't know how far of a trip it is for you. But you'd have a blast.
Well just when you think you have enough Esee blades... Ordered up the PR4... Need to be schooled on the finish, what care is given to the black oxide finish? oh and my wallet hates me.. lol
I like to use the heck out of it to make the finish smooth then coat it with Bfat or mineral oil. If it gets rusty ill use some 0000 on it and carry one.
