Just picked up an orange bladed 5 in like new condition with sheath. Can't wait to get it and mod the heck out of it. Going to etch it, remove the paint, give it a grapefruit patina, dye the scales black, put a very cool lanyard on it and go out and beat up some dead wood with it. Fun!!!!!
Yeah, it's an awesome blade for sure. I can't imagine letting mine go, and she is WELL used. I do want to pick up a 6 to go with my 5, PR4 and CR2.5
I repost a pic of my E-5 after I gave it to a very good craftman to restore the engraving which desappear when I removed the coating (on blade only to prevent the tang to rust). I add a mustard patina to perfect it
Mine ~ the day of arrival, the first day of my addiction. Sadly, it’s not so “pretty” anymore ~ but that’s a great thing!
Nice photo. Glad it doesn't look like that any longer. That means it's used, as it should be, and that makes it a happy knife!
This knife was offered up to me on another forum. It is within 1 production number of my first RAT 5. I had to have it. Just showed up today. #2059
That’s what I thought when I saw it. This knife has never seen the outside of the safe in its life. Still has the factory grind. The ESEE 5 gets a bad rap from most, but I don’t know how the vast majority can not like this knife, say it’s too thick, but turn around and buy a small camping axe cut out of the same .25” stock as this knife then say it’s the greatest thing ever made. People are weird.
