I think that I am the only person on the planet who loves the looks of this knife. Y’all probably thought the Volkswagen “Thing” was ugly too.
It’s a fine looking knife. I was a SHOT talking to Jeff and he said it was the ugliest knife they ever made. I told Patrick that he nailed it. I grab it every time I go outside to do work or a hike. Functional for a tone of things...like beating the ice off my snow shoes. I can’t wait until spring and summer when it is going to get daily use. By next fall mine is going to be a beauty queen. Besides no one seems to have cut one in half yet.....
That's a serious bowdrill you've got there @DYSPHORIC JOY I'm digging that handle wrap on the other pic. I think my PR4 will be my main knife the Bushcraft class coming up in March.
Hey everybody. Pardon my ignorance, but what are the differences between the PR4 and the PR4-BO? Is it simply that the BO replaces the Camp Lore logo with the more traditional ESEE branding while acknowledging the unique Black Oxide blade coating?
Heh. Fair enough. The PR4 is usually listed as sold out or discontinued and the PR4-BO is mostly in stock and shipping. Here are some pictures (I suspect the minor color variations are due to lighting): ESEE-PR4 ESEE-PR4-BO
Well, after seeing so many pictures of the PR4 over the last few days, I finally broke down and ordered one. Can’t wait to put it to work!
In another thread @Strigidae and @Jeff Randall said all skull logos and camplore logos were getting phased out and all Esee knives will have the Esee logo from here out. The difference you're seeing on the sale sites probably how that dealer is handling the changes for the PR4. As far as I know it's always had black oxide finish.
It’s a great knife. I’m heading out to squirrel hunt with mine this weekend if the weather cooperates.
It is my go to knife since Bushcraft in October, a good all around user. I did just order a BO JG3 from Massdrop
Thanks, @The Marsh Gorilla, I appreciate the knowledge. The PR4/PR4-BO difference/designation is on several sites so I presume it is just ESEE's way of delineating the black oxide coating in the knife name. I was mostly wondering if, branding and "BO" aside, there are any physical changes in the knives.
