For being the ugly duckling of the ESEE line, the LS feels exceptional in the hand. That i was not expecting. I find myself using the finger groove much more than being behind it. Got a SEMO bead on it and its getting etched so its mine now. Im eager to try out the ergonomics on some feather sticks and bow drill notches. May even do some try sticks as those look interesting to ummm try.
My 3 or 4 get a lot more time in my day pack due to their size/weight. But when it comes to wood processing and fire building the LS is a tough act to follow.
I agree. The LS looks terrible but it feels so good in the hand. For comfort in the hand it comes second only to the Junglas.
Do you use the forward finger groove? Those steps down on the spine help sink the blade into a good grip.
Yes I do for a lot of work. I do use the regular grip for some things though. Even then the handle is comfortable, much better then the Esee 4.
What I would like though is for the LS to have the same Hex screws as the 4. I'm not a fan of the slot drew heads on the LS. I will have to look into ordering some now Esee are going to sell spares.
Nope. Can't really see the point of it. If I'm in a situation where in need to makes last ditch attempt at fire I don't want to be messing about with a washer taking the scales off my knife.
I can see your point. Ill leave mine in there for the backup to the backup to the backup. Might need to put some PJ on the scales to seal it?
Personally I'm glad it's something easy to open. Don't see myself ever needing what's inside the handle, but if I do it would be a whole lot easier to find something in nature that can twist a flathead screw than torx or hex.
