As requested, Here is a spine shot. I tossed in a well Used ESEE 4HM just for fun, Handle close up, Spine close up, L to R, 4HM, Wines, RB-3, Another angle,
I have wanted a pr4 for quite a while, and frankly almost bought one several times, but my hands are so big I don’t want thin handle scales., and if I put buy the TKC scales I have read it won’t fit in the stock leather sheath. If TKC brings pr4 out in the knife builder section where I can get scales, and then a sheath to fit I will own one.
@RocketmanDane has the TKC scales on his, correct me if Im wrong Dane but i think he has the stock sheath.
@Justafigment @mtngoat The TKC scales will not fit a stock leather sheath due to the thickness. 2 good option IMO are #1 TKC sells a Kydex sheath designed for the PR4 with TKC scales and they sell a Leather sheath that will fit with the added scales. #2 You can almost fit the the PR4 with TKC scales in the stock sheath. What I did before I bought the kydex was to carefully unstich a few inches of the sheath from the top down to the blade curve. I then placed a small about 1/4 inch wide strip of additional leather to make the handle part a little wider. Carefully stitch back up and your good to go. Look at the leather working thread below if my pictures don’t work. 12 January 2019 a post by me for pictures https://eseeknives.com/forums/index.php?threads/leather-working-thread.195/page-14 You can see the additional leather I had to add. You can see the partial stitching and the Chicago screw I added for durability.
@Justafigment Some previous profile shots First ones are the PR4 vs a Stock ESEE The last picture in order: CR2.5 SS Izula with TKC extended scales Izula 2 with custom G10 scales, Standard size but in G10 PR4 with TKC Scales Stock ESEE with stock Micarta scales
That is a sweet kydex setup and orange scales! Thank you sir for all the great information and pics, you have been a big help!
Couldn't you saturate the leather in water first? Then allow the wet leather to stretch over the scales, and just leave it in until it dries?
@IW17 I honestly don’t know.. I have never had much luck with wet-forming sheaths. I won’t say it won’t work but I seem to remember a year + ago when I got the scales that there was some reason you couldn’t.
