Did an easy day today...saw the Grand Canyon from the edge with the crowds...time limited our hikes today...that and my stiff legs from Zion and Bryce

Strig, if you ever go once then you will be hooked for life. The Amazon use to be my travel drug of choice but after spending some time in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona, I could really care less if I ever got back on a plane and made it down to Peru again. I could spend months exploring in the southwest and never get bored. It's perfect for "overland" style vehicles since there's so much BLM land and you can do pretty much what you want. And if you're thinking it all looks like desert, it doesn't. Dixie National Forest and areas around Posey Lake remind me of the Smoky Mountains. Wendy, Patrick, Shane, Jed, Aaron and I are doing a week long backpacking trip this fall on the Great Western Trail up around Posey Lake. Really looking forward to it.

About a two mile hike to Delicate arch...easy walking with a bit of elevation. This is the only Arch we stopped at ...time is getting short and we are getting tired of driving...over 2200 miles so far

Temps were in the low 70’s and windy...very dry...long way from midwestern humidity!

Ditched the sundowners for lighter Keens. I also went with a smaller day pack...Mountain Smith wraith 25L with a dumb logo but the price was right. The curved ridged pack keeps my back lots cooler but can make packing rigid stuff a little awkward. I wore this pack hiking up to Black Elk peak in South Dakota and liked it.
