Nice looking decal. But, what's a Yeti? This is what they look like up here. Shot this pic in the backwoods last week.
What's a "polaroid"? (Arctic hemoroid?) You're dating yourself. Which is kind of weird: dating yourself ... I'll just leave it at that.
@Stone and @Expat, together. The most raucous duo since Bonnie and Clyde, Butch and Sundance, Jack and Jill, Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde, Abbott and Costello. Here for a long run engagement. Come one, come all. Read about it, contribute to it, heck even PM them with your requests. Their social secretary, the ever popular Mike Perrin, will answer your PM's with pithy words of wisdom. No hugs, but hey, this IS the internet. Coming soon, a daily VR podcast of the latest banter from Master Stone and his sidekick Expat. PM Mike for details. The burning question for today: Is his name "Expat" or "Ex-Pat" and is that a reference to the surgical procedure performed to transition from Patricia to Patrick and do we now know that "Expat" is really the transgender we know as Patrick Rollins? Only El Jeffe knows for sure. Well, him and the ESEE Mole, but the Mole ain't telling.
<Laughing> This is one -- among many -- things I love about this forum. Few boundaries, and people with a great sense of humor. Friday night funnies aside for a moment, Expat, I sincerely like your stickers, and the logo in general. Most company logos are boring to me: too abstract and/or uninteresting. <yawn> Yours has character. It tells a little story about tropical adventures, and it's memorable. I'm curious, did you design it yourself, or hire a graphic designer. Most advice I've gotten from advisors about my organization's logo (still in the design stage, as is the organization) has been KISS: the name and a single symbol, which has proven to be very difficult to impossible for my organization, to represent it using a single symbol, given the breadth of the products and services we offer. I think I'm going to follow your lead and try something more innovative.
Ill be honest, Nem. I wasnt going to pay a dime for it, regardless of what it was going to be. I had an idea in my mind that the logo should tell a story or conjure up some sort of adventurous theme. Whatever the observer interpreted that adventure to be. So, I started with that in mind and decided upon a snapshot of some image that would evoke those feelings. What I landed on was the old Pan Am travel posters of the '30s and '40s. That was the model. I explained that to Jeff and he came up with what you see. We tweaked several versions to make it simple. The plane is actually Jimmy Buffett's Gruman Albatross. I think he named it The Hemisphere Dancer, which is a cool name and jives with our company. The Albatross is the coolest plane ever made. If i werent terrified of flying, i would probably live in one of them. The font is the art deco which was used a lot in the old travel posters promoting bora bora or tahiti or whatever. We thought the diamond shape would lend itself well to unique patches and stickers rather than a round design which is common. The most surprising thing was i always planned it to be in color. But no color combination ever looked better than black and white so we went with simple. But Jeff drew everything. The whole process maybe took 2 days. It was pretty quick. Im very happy with it. Anyway, thats the story behind it.
