Super bummed out right now. They have just discovered whirling disease in the Bow river (the main river in my area) and if it keep spreading it is looking like they will shut down all the fishing in Southern Alberta till it is dealt with.

Definitely bad news as Calgary is considered some of the best fly fishing in the world with the legendary Browns in the Bow. It would be a major blow to the fishing economy here.

Any of you guys run into this thing before? Apparently it started in Europe

We have it in our rivers here in Utah, it seems like rainbow trout are more effected by the disease compared to Browns.

I have only caught on with the disease before and it was a rainbow.

We have never had any of our river fishing shut down because of whirling.

I just read that browns typically aren't affected

However we have an extremely left government that has been trying to shut down our rivers all year already so they aren't going to hesitate to shut them down with this
