Got reverse switch working on neighbor's atv, changed the oil, and checked the brakes. Definitely needs new brake shoes, also rigged up this little hitch adapter for a little dump trailer.

Just summitted Cambie Creek , Manning Park, not quite at the top though due to high avalanche risk. Zero cell coverage except for a narrow line of sight to a repeater on the next mountain peak. 5 - 8’ of snow , trail compacted by a group of x country skiers and a couple of groups of snowshoe’rs

My buddies for the day, massive massive ravens , 3 juveniles and 1 large male raven. 40lbs of winter backcountry essentials, including the avalanche shovel . EDIT>>>> real weight of entire rig/gear ended up being 70 lbs. It didn't bother me......sunk lots in the snow even with massive snowshoes.....but literally felt like nothing on my back. Going to order at least 5 more SORD Patrol Webbing kits to stash away (in case they discontinue it :() ........I'm amazed at how much crap I can carry with this webbing and it does not bug me.

    Just got in.

I miscalculated the weight of the L.R.R.P.R. webbing.......,.

    It was 70 lbs :D I wondered why I was sinking 1’ deep in the snow while wearing 16” x 48” snowshoes.........LOL

I shall now call the webbing “The L.R.R.P.R. “Bush-Pig” rig.......:D

Guess I triggered people at MEC. Had my Jackal Firearms cup hanging off my pack straps and my CS Colosuss clipped to my chest pocket.

Got told by staff that people were uncomfortable with my hulking presence and that I looked angry (face muscles were cold, and I always have a dead, cold stare).

Oh ok I said, I guess I’ll spend my $200 somewhere else. I reminded them that I have been a member for 28 years and have spent over $20,000 over the years, and that perhaps people shouldn’t be such scared snowflakes and mind their own business. I also reminded them that the CEO is a Canadian Forces member and they don’t seem to be upset by that......but they are upset by a coffee cup with a rifle logo??

Went to BladesCanada and dropped $175 on pass around box loot and another $40 on myself (Cold Steel made in Africa Smatchet)

Back in my hometown in Ontario for a few days after attending the annual mining conference in Toronto.

I picked up a new pair of Fischer Outback 68 Crown/Skin skis and a new pair of Crispi Nordland Hook NNN backcountry boots.

A beautiful crisp -23c morning to test them out at the MNR Resource Management Centre. The centre has 17km of groomed trails on crown land, free for public use. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid but it’s been at least ten years since my last visit.

As expected the Fischer’s were flawless. My first pair of waxless skis since I was a kid. They have come along way, hill grip with the crowns was way better than expected. I didn’t get a chance to install/test the EasySkins.

Whitetail deer wolf kill on the trail about 5km in.

    What a great day!

Spent the whole day building fence for the wife's goats. Would of rather been in the woods but it was a beautiful day and felt good to get out and exert myself a little.

At Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve today hanging out with my friend Tom Wax (teaching/demonstrating friction fire) and SALT (Study of Ancient Lifeways and Technology). Always a good group to hang out with and learn from. IMG_6838.JPG IMG_6839.JPG IMG_6841.JPG IMG_6842.JPG IMG_6843.JPG IMG_6844.JPG IMG_6845.JPG

^ thats really cool to see.

I have ALWAYS wanted to dig a traditional BC West Coast Salish pit house...........my only fear is the high radon gas count around here......

I think a pit house would be just awesome to camp or live in, esp in the hot heat of summer.

your killing me with that Fat Bike man....I'm almost tempted to sell my Jeep Diesel 4x4 just to get a fat bike........
