I was rather expecting that too but no, no unusual funky scent cover on my ghillie. Just a LOT of excited woo woo’ing and face licks. ;)

I didn’t take before pictures, but I carved these as a gift. They’re sassafras I cut from the farm. A little chunkier than I had hoped but I was afraid of splits. I’m happy enough with it for my first time.

Had a pack strap bust a while back. Tried fixing it with duck tape. . . well, that didn't work. SO, I made a little bobbin and attached an upholstery needle for my pack so I could make an emergency repair. It's a double-headed snake bushcraft bobbin!

Awaiting family to arrive, crafting gifts for my friend's little daughter. She a serious little Bushcrafter! DSCN0318[1].JPG

My friends daughter om a hunt, wearing a belt pouch I crafted. Her and her Dad came up empty on Turkeys so they went mushroom hunting.

Maybe a strap for carry across the back as a kind of snapsack? Or, carry tarp and blanket rolled up in it and lash to a knapsack?

Strap on the back for sure, the question was figuring out what to use and how long to make it.
Ended up repurposing a cotton webbing belt - it's a bit long when I'm only wearing a t-shirt, but will fit over winter gear without compressing it badly.

That crossed my mind - - cotton webbing. Would be a good natural material choice. Nylon web would be cheesy I think. Have fun with it!

Made a few things for the D3CRM micro rig. Folded up a small kydex insert for my range finder, and the lower drain hole eyelets are in a perfect spot to attach a CR 2.5 with a few screws. There is enough room in the main compartment to mount a velcro holster for small pistol, 8x bino set or a couple mags. On the front pouch I found a Tuff Possum velcro backed "skittles pouch" fit perfect for small items like spare batts, tools etc on the front panels velcro. The side mag pouch is a perfect size for my anemometer/temp tool. This thing is working great for hunting, lightweight, smallish footprint but holds the quick access gear I like to have at hand. I am still looking for a good set of binos that will fit, and need to fold up a few slick velcro holsters to use with it.

Getting a few more projects out of the way now that the temps are a bit better. Formed up a sheath for the ESEE 3 I was gifted from my kids and made one for the little Smith and Sons Shoal to replace the very nice, but bulky factory leather. The original sheath weighs more than the knife and kydex together.

Made a crude arrow out of a wild rose shoot and a turkey feather. Will use it in my PVC bow I made probably 5 or so years ago, tiller is way off on the bow but it is still fun to shoot. I pulled a scale on it and iirc it was 29lbs but may have lost a little when I tried to even out the limbs. center section is gray PVC the "horns" or siya? are made from hawthorn wood and I hid the joint with some fake fur off an old pair of winter boots.
