I live in Plymouth, Ma about 3 miles from the rock. The trails are about the same distance away. As I walk these trails I can't help but think of the native wampanoag that lived here hundreds of years ago. I wonder if they themselves blazed these trails. I wonder if I'm walking near or on somebody's land. It's pretty high above sea level so from a strategic standpoint they had to have used this piece of land. Anyways enough daydreaming.

There must've been a fire here long ago the only trees burnt are what I think are northern white cedar everything else is alive and thriving with no signs of fire except on the cedars

    Good stuff!
What's Thanksgiving like over there? Is it a extra special time?
Being on the east coast one way of looking for old trails is the trees. In your third pic is a tree that has obviously had another tree (maybe that has fallen) effect the way it has grown. Now I'm not saying that tree is a trail marker but back in the day that's how they would mark trails or direction of travel. One popular way was to take a sapling, bend it over and tie it down so the tip of the tree pointed in the direction of travel. As the tree would grow it would stay bent over and just grow like that. You're in a area of the USA where finding trees like that are very possible. If you ever find trees like that then take the time to examine the surrounding area for signs of what could've been a old road or trail.

Nice, my wife and I lived in Quincy for a little over a year, and then in Hanover for a little over 2 years. We really liked the south shore.
