In light of some recent comments heard here and elsewhere I want to toss this out to stop the confusion. A hammer is a hammer. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A welding rod is a welding rod. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A hunting dog is a hunting dog. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A tractor is a tractor . It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A truck is a truck. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A computer is a computer. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. A toolbox is a toolbox. It is all just personal choice. One is no better than another. That said let's go out and give a finish carpenter a waffle faced framing hammer. Let's go give the welder a nickel rod to weld blades on sheet metal. Let's give a bird Hunter a Mastiff. Let's give a corn farmer a lawn tractor. Let's give a over the road trucker a dump truck. Let's give a gamer an apple 2e. Let's give a plumber a truck box to carry his hand tools in. It doesn't work does it? The statements do not hold up. It is not true. Axes have different purposes. Some even cross over. But just like a properly designed framing hammer is superior for framing tasks compared to a finish or junk hammer, a properly designed felling ax will be superior for felling tasks compared to an franseca. Let's stop the nonsense. M2¢
