So I have been nominated to represent a group of youth summer campers at a “Leaders” knife and Axe throwing competition this summer. I can get some experience with axes at a local Axe throwing restaurant so I am good on that BUT.. I have never seriously looked at or considered knife throwing so I am looking for some advice.(So I can start practicing early) I don’t know a lot of details other than I can bring my own knives and the target is a round log target like you see below. Throwing knife recommendations? Type? Brand? What to look for? Targets? Training?
I have had good luck with the cold steel true flight throwers in the past. Paracord handle worked well for me, decent weight, tempered but not gar, so they didn't bend or break.
i have an old camillus made true flight thrower, and some other cold steel thrower, both work better than i do... working as an assembler for a while, i got pretty decent at no-spin throwing of cheap screwdrivers. I'd probably practice no spin techniques, with something like this... https://www.knifecenter.com/item/CN...t-dagger-spear-hardwood-handle-leather-sheath
