Either way it should be .25” thick at the spine too.

Totally respect your opinion, but can you elaborate?

Is it a weight issue? Edge geometry issue?

    Absolutely.

The thickness issue for me is all those things based off expected use. I use mine for cooking and wood prep for fires so an axe and a paring knife would be ideal. With that said ill still go big knife/little knife sometimes because lets be honest those tools must be used if you own them. Its also fun to use different tools and i like them all. So yes, edge geometry and weight in the hand are good points. Thats about all the elaboration i can give you other than it just doesn't do it for me or feel right.

    All good points @Strigidae

I have always loved a 3” to 4” Scandinavia ground knife and a medium sized axe. Maybe even throw in a folding saw. You are totally covered there.

My love for thicker knives comes from a lot of use with them and I’ve grown to love and trust the backbone they have when you need to use them for something that would break a normal knife. So with that being said, a thick knife is more of a tool than a knife.

Take @Bushman5 and I as an example. We pack heavy iron all the time, BUT we always have a smaller knife for intricate tasks/cooking.

I think I’m going to start a separate thread about this.

    Interesting topic.

Less “made it” more changed a color :) @Jeff Randall @shaneadams90 What is the possibility to get the ESEE Rite in the Rain notebook switched from the Tan to the Orange cover I see that they offer?

Been looking at quite a few different kwaiken style knives recently. Would love to see an ESEE version.

As far as thickness as being discussed above, the only REAL advantage imho to making these knives 1/4" thick is sales to that type of market and potential weight distribution.

The 3/16" junglas and j2 are SO tough that without extreme mechanical advantage they are nearly unbreakable.

Thats why, for me personally, in a survival situation i would take an E4, a LS, or a 6 before a 5.

What’s the advantage of a clip point on the Junglas 1&or2 besides personal preference?

    "Besides personal preference"

Its personal preference. It will poke a little better, for what thats worth, and it will handle slightly different, but more importantly its an iconic blade shape that many people LOVE, that the Junglas design would lend itself WONDERFULLY to.

I’ve been thinking.... a collab with queen or another well known company to make a stockman. Brass bolsters, and either green, natural, or black micarta. I guess 1095/D2/440C for the steel?

Queen has been out of business since 2018 im pretty sure.

Im also pretty sure D2 is finally nearly dead for quality reputable manufactures, at least in fixed blades.

But i do like the idea! Maybe 1095/ s35vn
