It was raining last night, preventing me from being able to test out the new fire pit my mother-in-law bought me for my bday. I was determined to enjoy a fire somehow, even if for just a few minutes... So I whipped up a quick mini Swedish fire log and lit it just under the edge of my patio roof.... 20171027_213736.jpg

It's good to practice fire skills under adverse conditions at home

I was under the cover of my patio (notice I'm just inside the wet line of the cement lol) so it wasn't too adverse lol

You can replace it with that Esee fire kit you got.

@Stayinsharp you weren't joking about how sharp the spine was, I was using the genesis chest lever style to whittle some thick shavings up and let the spine slide across my left hands knuckle. Couple minutes later I look down and there's blood running down my finger, guess I can really call it my knife now since it drew blood!

I believe it brother. Told ya to stay safe!!! And I agree. Till IT bites you it’s never truly yours. I’m not saying I condone unsafe practices (for all of the scout leaders that may read this). That said hope it serves you well bro. Enjoy that one.

Haha, I put my gloves on and it closed right up, the actual cut looks pretty pathetic now but it sure did bleed! And I totally agree, only after it draws blood do you actually own it. When I bought my BM adamas auto I opened my hand up playing with it in the car after I walked out of the store, figured that ment it was a keeper. I was just glad it hadn't happened in the store, can only imagine the sales guys face as I'm dripping blood on the display case trying to check out haha!

Hahaha yep. Never sell them once they bite me. It’s like a pact. Or packed?...

It’s kinda weird. Cause there are alcohols that made me sick that I’ll never drink again. But if my knife bites me I keep it forever.

We had some miserably windy and over cast weather today. It felt good to get a fire burning with a few green saplings and a ferro rod. It stays so warm down here that I'd almost forgotten how sucky it is to have to do this in chilly weather with the wind steadily blowing.
