(Well, actually just 1 cleaver is shipping.) I kinda feel bad all of y'all want to buy cleavers but there's none to be bought right now. I will let y'all use mine until they start shipping. DJ has it right now to shoot some video. When he's done, he's agreed to ship it to the start of the pass around list. You guys start that here in this thread. No need for me to monitor it--you just ship it to the next person on the list after you've tried it for awhile. Make arrangements among yourselves for shipping it. Use it for a weekend outing, butchering some meat, prepping camp fire, in the kitchen--let your wife try it, hunting trip, fishing trip, whatever you want to try it out on for a few days and then send it on along. A couple of things: This is my personal one and Serial #001 and I want it back eventually. So, don't go doing any torture tests on it. If you put a huge divot in the blade or really dull it, or use it to butcher leprosy-infested armadillos, etiquette says you sharpen and clean it before sending on to the next guy on the list. I would appreciate any pictures and videos of you guys using it, particularly if they are good quality. Although the Expat® Knives Facebook page has a bunch of great sticker pictures, we're thinking of adding some ones that feature actual knives in them. As my pretentious friend says, "Do we have an accord?"
Can I sign up for the weekend of May 20th, I am doing a food festival and am in need of a good cleaver for processing. http://www.bovinoche.com/
I am in. Thanks. The pictures will be horrific and look like a toddler was playing with a camera and any review will be so biased and horribly opinionated it will be all but unreadable. Combined with my inability to spell and my refusal to structure a sentence, use proper punctuation and complete lack of ability to stop and start a paragraph in the correct way.......should all make for wonderful advertising.
Post your location, if not listed, so we can determine a shipping order unless you have a specific date like @mtngoat. I will start the process in a week or two once we get to do some testing here.
You are not allowed to fashion a 36" handle to replace the original scales. Just wanting to be clear.
I'm in. I would love to try a proper cleaver. Maybe this would be better than my Asian Grocery Store special? May be a good idea to stay with food safe oils given possible uses?
I will make sure I treat the scales, sheath, and blade with a thick coat of Urushiol to protect you guys who appendix carry.
I know it doesn't sound possible or practical but @Allen Morrison said he likes a challenge and if nothing else will enjoy the prototyping.
I have to rig a hollow handle on this thing to make it functional. Will probably get @Sam Wilson to do some mods. Cleaver with a storage compartment for some @RedEyedHog accoutrements would be perfect. Seriously though, need to get a load of pics on here detailing use when you test it.
