I still wonder what they do to the metal just before they paint(powder coat). The etched gray you see right after strip the paint. Only Esee I have stripped, my 6hm, has that forged slag look on the bare blade after I stripped and then buffed with a red 3m scotch pad. Apposed to a Becker blade has machine tool marks after stripping

I usually sand the factory coating down on my esse's a bit to smooth out the surface; if i leave the coating on them.
Right now I just have an Izula II in smoke/tactical gray. Got to impress a coworker with it batonning through a good section of a branch- lost my machete
