You are seriously going to make me go off into axes worse than I am into guns and knives! How does something like that 1300g Trento work on scrub bush ranging between thumb and wrist diameter? I ask because I tend to use a sweeper/Kaiser blade for cutting trails through scrub brush, briars and saplings with the majority being hardwood saplings. I find the sweeper a bit light for duty a good bit of the time as a one tool solution.

I like this axe. Does it have a pole? Serious question. If it does, I like (poled?) axes.

@Sheepdog it sure does. Apparently helps with balance. I always thought it was for pounding wedges and tent stakes but also for adding weight without changing the edge geometry.

It's great for it. The Trento is a lot like a great big knife blade on a stick. It's not going to be the best for really huge stuff simply because it's a fairly light axe, so trying to drive it into the wood as hard as you can is just going to shock your hands and tire you out because the head can't store more than a certain amount of energy as inertia, after which you're providing all of the "oomph" directly, which is why I prefer to use "lazy" swings with it at a relaxed pace. But for branches, saplings, and scrub you can one-hit stuff thicker than you can with most axes, including most brush axes or heavy machetes, and because the bit is so broad it's able to handle volume brushing work well. For chopping/felling it's ideal for smaller to medium sized trees.

Now you know it's a poll. I use mine as a hammer more often than not when I'm camping. I don't like using the side of the axe for that role.

I've pounded stakes with the dull end. Works better than the other side for sure. Now I know it's a poll. Hey, that makes even more sense, I'm pounding poles with the poll end. I love symetry!

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. I embrace it. I seriously had no clue what a poll was. Now I do, and knowing is half the battle!

It was what I was getting at. You just have an uncanny similarity in writing style and phrasing as a different member. No worries bro.
