This might be my best group so far at this distance. Yesterday I quit hunting deer and started hunting paper. You get a lot more shots that way.

    1.25” group @300 yards

    Remington 700 Magpul with Vortex HST 4 - 16 x 40

Almost a digression but I have been shooting some .22 mag CZ. I do rimfire at 50 yards or so. 8EEA867E-DCA6-4F66-89CB-67065BCC41DA.jpeg

I have a spear also but the groups are not worth photographing.

I have the 1712 which is the larger action. I shot small bore silhouette with it in NM. There is something about the gun craft of that region. Krieghoff and Anshutz have it. Within a price point so does CZ. I have screwed the .22 LR barrel on my CZ and will shoot it this week.

I am working on a Henry .22 for the lever silhouettes for some matches near my house. I have replaced the sights. I think I can get two MOA out of it with irons. I will be bragging then.

    Good group with the 308.

[IMG]........ only at 100yds.....playing with factory loads and some handloads. Top left is three rounds of my handloads. I had to examine the plastic backing to believe three rounds were there, but they were !!! I decided that I would just stick with that load.

Went back the following day to see if I could repeat it but there was a gusty wind being a bitch and I only had a few left to fire....

........ the rifle is Austrian as well.... ;) ;) A Cold War relic I have hung onto since the 80s and while there are many better bolt guns today this old one still holds it's own ;)

I would need to go look at my book but I think those 165s are sitting on @45gns of AR2208 (Varget in your speak) and a Fed Match Primer.

I'm very new to reloading, as in I'm still in the reading and researching phase as I collect the items I need to start. I know bullets and powders will produce different results, but do primers make a difference as well?

I need to see what my 455 will do. I have never tried it on paper.

...... it's an original Steyr SSG (guessing 70s production). It was the factory optics package (Khales ZF69 in serial numbered rings etc). After a "tragic accident" in the early 90s the original green stock was replaced with a McMillian jobby, later I replaced all the bottom plastics (trigger guard and magazine etc) with a set of custom stuff Styria Arms in Austria produced (for all the agencies there still fielding the SSG) so it is rigid, can be tightened without cracking the trigger guard and feeds from AICS magazines. Along the way I also replaced the QD rings with a picatinny rail and mounted a Leupold Mk 4 6.5-20.

    I have a pic here somewhere....yep....found it...

..... since that was taken I have also replaced the bi-pod and mount.

This is another group from my .300Win (100yds).....

.......180gns Nosler Ballistic Tip or Accubond (shoots both the same :D ) over a handful of AR2213SC with a Fed LR Magnum (its what I had here) primer.

The rifle is an early 1980s (I bought it second hand in 1983) Weatherby Vanguard (so a Howa M1500) that I replaced the pretty wood stock with a McMillian in the 90s. Barrel is light and heats up quick if you pound out some quick rounds (thirteen one after the other heated it enough that it caused a noticeable burn on the inside of my forearm after working hard to get an Asiatic Buffalo on the ground in 1985).

...... they *may*.....depending on just how precise you are trying to be (Benchrest Shooters loose sleep over changing batch numbers of primers far less the entire brand) but for the very vast majority of us in hunting/tactical type rifles most will never notice (however everyone will have an example of when it did or at least seemed to). I would sweat brass being consistent before the primer as an issue.

Nice shooting! Or as they say in your country, Muy Bueno!

I’ve never owned a Weatherby but I’ve been impressed with them and the company itself. Lot of geniuses out there making their own way in the mid 20th Century. We stand on their shoulders today.

Weatherby developed part of thier reputation from loading the Nosler partition in thier proprietary shells. It is the bullet that kills and they used the best for one available for thin skinned game.
