I debating asking this in a different forum, but the people that will see it here will be more down to earth and tested than elsewhere.

In honor of me renewing my carry permit again, I'm forcing myself to try carrying a larger caliber. Up until now my set-up was as such:

Warm weather: LC9 in appendix position
Cold weather: FNX .40 OWB at 4'o'clock

What I would like to start doing is running a .45 acp IWB at 3 or 4'o'clock. I would love to get a 1911 to carry, but the only ones I could afford would be a Rock Island.

Guess I kind of skipped all that. I can outshoot myself using the .40 over the 9mm. Recoil isn't the problem, there just isn't enough real estate on the grip of an LC9. I also have a millennium pro PT111 that I shoot well, but I found out there was a major recall on them and I missed the cut off date. So now my taurus is an expensive paperweight.

Whatever is recommended to me here, I'll be taking a trip to my LGS and putting my mitts on it. I am a fan of a full grip, but I prefer not to print easily.

I was considering going that route, when it comes to 9mm that was one of my 3 initial ideas. The other two were a Walter PPS in 9mm or Glock 43.

If I go the route of a .45 I was considering the XD compact.

    More bullets > bigger bullets

9mm has killed far more people than .45’s have. .32’s and .380’s have probably killed more people than .45’s.

But.... How can I portray how manly I am by carrying something smaller than a .45.

I'm leaning towards the 9mm anyway, just way too many choices. If you take the side of more bullets, then would there be any reason not to look into a G19 instead?

Have no fear my friend, Glock has you covered with the new G45.

Protect your reputation by being able say you carry a 45, while actually carrying a 9mm. In my opinion, it's the best version of the G19 they've built yet, it just requires a little DIY (grip chop).

Split the difference and get a Glock 20 ;)

Just don’t let your GF/wife or sister shoot it because they’ll sprout chest hair.

Is there a difference between the G45 and the G19x? Besides the FDE on the 19x

Not familiar with the G45 but if I were picking one today it would probably still be a 19.

Personally, I really like the m&p line. They fit my hand better than glocks. Currently carry a 2.0 compact in .40.

@Jeremiah Jones what's the stock capacity like for that .40? I know if I went the route of a compact I would need to get mag extenders for my grip.

Love my XDm 9 4.5". 19+1 capacity, great grip, reliable and accurate.

That being said, I've been wanting to pick up a SIG P227 SAS Gen 2 for a long time.

.45 ACP, 10+1 capacity in a very compact and slim frame. Might be one to check out, they have a few variants depending on what options you want.

13 for flush fit. It'll also accept the full size 15 round mags. It comes with a grip extension to use with the 15's.

It's pretty much the same size as a G19.

@Expat I may be wrong, but did you mention in another thread that you have a 26? It's looking like the answer to my question overall. Higher round count and reliable as hell, without printing real easy
