My friend just messaged me asking if I knew the name of this movie. Someone he knows is trying to remember what it is.

this is what she said about it.

"Will! How are you?! My sister and I need some help locating a movie we remember from childhood with only sketchy details. Any ideas on how to find the title? It was probably produced around the 1960s about 2 children in say 1800s England whose mother (?) dies and they go off to find their father who was lost at sea. There are bad people, and they meet some guy who might be a pirate, and search for treasure and escape from the bad guys, and in a scene in a watery cave at the end they find out that the pirate dude is actually their father. There are cliffs, and one of the treasure clues was rolled up and hidden in a cross. Kind of a darker, earlier, version of the goonies a little bit???"

If anyone knows what this could be that would be great.

Sounds a little bit like Treasure Island, but maybe not. There have been different versions.

I have no idea but this happens to me too. Trying to figure out some old movie or book with just these glimpses of what it was.
    Good luck!

Another guy in a different forum posted this one. I think it might be it.

Just waiting to hear back from my friend if it is.

Here is another clue she remembered about it below if anyone has an idea.

OK, I've been consulting with my sister- we agree that Shipwrecked is a great trip down memory lane, but our two children main characters were younger, and the setting was more Charles Dickens' time period, cliffs in England, rather than tropical island.

The Pirate's Inn also sounds awesome, and is created in the right time period, and the kids are the right age, but too modern a setting.

I was wondering if you could narrow the time frame down. You said "around the 1960's" which is a big span of time. Do you know the approximate age you were when you guys saw this so we have a little narrower range? Like could it have been in the early 70's? Late 50's?

It’s not me. It’s a friends friend who can’t remember the name of it. I’m just trying to help figure it out. All the info they told my friend is what I posted.

If they mention anything else I will post it here.
