    That’s a tough one, but I think Mule Deer or I might go back for Blacktails in Alaska. For now it’s coyotes and ice fishing :D

    post some pictures of that! I've never seen anyone ice fish for coyotes!

    Man what a beautiful area. One part of the country that I've always wanted to see. Congrats on the awesome hunt.

    Something I've always wondered but never looked up. Is there a difference in taste/texture between the deer species? White tail, Black tail, Mule, Sitka, etc. I've always heard that Elk is the best tasting wild game out there and even though they're a deer species I wouldn't necessarily call them a deer haha.

    We ate some blackstrap when we were up there and it was delicious. When I got home I cooked whitetail side by side with the Sitka. The Sitka was more tender and had a better meat flavor. It was less gamey tasting. Where we hunted they eat a lot of kelp and salmon berry buds. Along with Lichen, I’d im spelling that right but it’s a moss above tree line.
