    and no, not everyone had perfect flint or obsidian to work with. When you get right down to it, a flattened piece of wood can be used to pry the skin off the flesh of almost any animal, with some help now and then from a sharp rock. I bet little sharp flakes of rock hurt going thru your intestines, tho. :) The point is that a knife cant really do all that much. Check out this guy. He started with nothing (in a WARM, climate) and over years, (normal life on the side) has created a civilization sort of productivity. to include making iron.
