Just found out that a friend and mentor passed away. He made a choker and prayer necklace for me years ago. They were both stolen and while I can probably make the choker and the necklace part, the bone pendant I wouldn't be able to. Primarily looking for native made but anyone will do, as long as the respect is there. Screenshot_20220306-131826_Facebook.jpg

Much respect for your mentor. And sorry for your loss.

I'm as white as sour cream, but I have many contacts in Indian Country I could reach out to. One cool thing about my job is helping indigenous people from American Samoa, to Alaska, to Florida and the US Virgin Islands. I would be happy to help you do a little networking to find a native craftsman.

Curious if the pendant could also be carved from antler or ivory? A pendant carved from walrus tusk or musk ox horn would be really special to me after living in Alaska.

    Thank you very much.

I would absolutely love some help in getting one made. This one was bison bone so that may be out of my reach for price, so antler would do fine. Maybe a price on both though if you could. Is prefer something from north America, too keep it indigenous to the land.
Much respect for what you do as well. Thank you for that.

Justin Lunt. You can find him on Instagram or Facebook. The guy is a walking encyclopedia of all things bead related (especially historical). If he can’t find or make you one himself, he definitely knows someone who can. Guy’s been in the primitive skills community since childhood, so respect for the natural world and working with organic materials is definitely there as well.
