PXL_20230417_035908288.jpg Hey guys. I'm pretty new to this forum. I just wanted to share an Izula handle wrap option I just did.
I haven't wanted to do a paracord wrap due to moisture/ease of cleaning. But I couldn't find any alternatives online besides actual scales. I don't want scales because I love the thin profile of the knife for pocket carry.
This option uses a ranger band (like bicycle inner tube). It gives just the right amount of grippiness and cushion.
Start by placing the band around the base of the handle.
Push the center of the band through the center of the handle, then pull and loop it around the butt/pommel so it's back on top again.
Repeat twice, dressing/straightening the band so that it lays flat at each step.
I just did this recently, so I don't know how it will hold up long term. But it's slim, grippy, cheap, and really quick and easy to put on and take off.
Maybe others have done this before, but I've never seen it, so I wanted to pass it along.

IMG_7282.jpeg Found this old school patch while cleaning earlier. I guess I had two cause I had one sewn to a jacket that was stolen quite a few years back.

Izzy2 got the India treatment for reducing the sharpening angle. On the Rowen side the edge looks broader at the belly, it actually isn't, but there is less paint there, so it looks wider on the picture.

I noticed that the part near the handle needed a bit more work, so I hit it again, I unintentionally removed the little choil and now it's sharpened all they way to the guard i actually like it like this, hope I haven't removed too much metal :D Most Izzys have a slight recurve there, so I think very little of the actual edge is gone.

I just went outside with the dog to seek a test branch like a madman (1 AM here :D ). It carves really good now, biting deep in hard wood with no edge damage. I am very happy with the result.

It went through these fishes like a hot knife through butter. Zero effort and and awesome fish knife.
